Intel Corporation has just reported third-quarter revenue of $9.4 billion. The company reported operating income of $2.6 billion, net income of 1.856 billion and earnings per share of 33 cents. The gross margin reached 58%, up 7 points sequentially.
According to the company, Atom processors contributed a revenue of $415 million in Q3, increasing by 15% from the second quarter.
“Intel’s strong third-quarter results underscore that computing is essential to people’s lives, proving the importance of technology innovation in leading an economic recovery,” said Paul Otellini, Intel president and CEO. “This momentum in the current economic climate, plus our product leadership, gives us confidence about our business prospects going forward. As we look ahead, Intel’s game-changing 32nm process technology will usher in another wave of innovation from new, powerful Intel Xeon server platforms to high-performance Intel Core processors to low-power Intel Atom processors.”

There is news that several NVIDIA partners have decided to cancel GeForce GTX285 and GTX275 due to lack of supply.
The rumor does not seem to make much sense, as NVIDIA’s next-gen GPU Fermi will not be ready until next year. We’re not sure yet if this is just NVIDIA’s marketing strategy to keep the market hungry for Fermi, but according to Fudzilla, the availability of GTX260, GTX275 and GTX285 was so bad that many manufacturers plan to drop these products.
Anyway, just take it with a grain of salt for now before the issue is confirmed.

AMD has today taken the wraps of the highly anticipated Radeon HD 5700 series, and Unika has also been quick to unveil their own non-reference HD 5750 graphics card.
Based on the 40nm Juniper GPU, Unika HD 5750 is powered by 720 stream processors, and equipped with 1GB Hynix GDDR5 memory across 128bit memory interface, as well as core/memory clock of 700/1150MHz.
It provides HDMI+DVI+D-Sub connectivities, compared with dual DVIs, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs on the reference design. The HD5750 is based on 40nm Juniper GPU (215-0754009). Unika HD 5750 has employed 8 Hynix 32Mx32bit GDDR5 memory chips to form the spec of 1024MB/128bit.
Radeon HD 5750 only registered P7563 according to the 3DMark Vantage benchmark, which means its performance is basically equal to HD 4850.

Many analysts believe Windows 7 is going to significantly stimulate the PC sales, but Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s CEO just doesn’t think so.
“There will be a surge of PCs but it will probably not be huge,” Ballmer said at a press conference in Munich. He also suggested that the tech sector would take some time to rebound to its former levels.
This is said to be a marketing strategy that Microsoft takes. They decides to play it safe and hopes the new operating system would turn out to be much better than what users have expected.

At the CEATEC Japan 2009 which was held from Oct 6th to Oct 10th, Sony showed off its 3D Full HD TVs. You’ll need to wear special 3D glasses, and you’ll be impressed with the lifelike 3D visual effects.
3D visual experience has become more and more popular. Many manufacturers have seen their opportunities and start to provide their own 3D solutions. You can purchase an expensive set of 3D device or settle yourself down to a low-cost solution just like Galaxy’s 3D glasses.

NVIDIA’s head of chipset development has recently confirmed that we can expect the Ion 2 chipset this year, but he didn’t lock down a specific month or quarter.
Ion 2 will support different Pentium 4 compatible processors including VIA’s Nano, Intel’s Atom and some ultra-low voltage processors. But it lacks support for the future processors such as Arrandale Core i5.
We don’t have many details yet, as the design depends on the customers.

We don’t really have many details on hand about the NVIDIA GeForce GT240, but our fellow site IT168 has just published some early benchmarks of the GPU.
Based on 40nm GT215, GT240 boasts 96 stream processors like we said. It’s shipping with 1GB SDDR3 or 512MB GDDR5 memory, 128bit memory interface and Core/Shader/Memory clock of 550/1340/900MHz, with support for DirectX 10.1.
Basically, the performance of GT240 falls between 9600GT and 9800GT according to the test, and it comes as no surprise that the GT240 GDDR5 model outperforms SDDR3 variant.
When the GT240 (GDDR5) was overclocked to 650/1590/900MHz, it surpassed GTS250 under 3DMark Vantage Performance mode, but still showed weak performance under high-resolution conditions.

Our fellow site Fudzilla has just posted a picture of Gigabyte’s HD 5770, and the card is said to be listed in an Australian ship for AUD262.9 ($237).
The dual-slot card sports a rather sizable fan and packs two DVIs, HDMI and DisplayPort connectivity, as well as an exhaust vent.
It seems that Australians usually have to pay quite a bit more for their hardware. Actually, according to what we learned earlier, HD 5770 will be priced at $199, replacing the HD 4890.

Traditionally, a specialists in aluminum/copper fin 'ring' type CPU coolers, Zalman maintained a performance leadership till aluminum fin tower type CPU coolers took over as the better performing design. Zalman was forced to keep up with the trend, which it did with the introduction of its CNPS-10X series coolers, namely CNPS-10X Quiet, and CNPS-10X Extreme. The third one in the series, which Zalman recently made available to European stores, is the CNPS-10X Flex. This is basically a tower-type heatsink that uses a block of 56 aluminum fins (some of which are anodized black), to which heat is conveyed by five copper heat-pipes. While it does not include a fan of its own, it gives you the flexibility of using your own 120 mm fan, and allows for two fans in all. The retention module supplied supports all current CPU sockets, including LGA-1366, LGA-1156, LGA-775, and AM3/AM2+/AM2. Priced at ?40, it is ?10 cheaper than the CNPS-10X Quiet, enough price difference to allow you to buy a decent-quality 120 mm fan of your choice, be it performance-oriented, or quiet.

Cooling specialist Xigmatek announced its latest CPU cooler, the Balder SD1283. The Balder maintains a design similar to most other tower coolers. The design consists of a base from which three heat pipes of 8 mm diameter making direct contact with the CPU, convey heat to a dense array of aluminum alloy fins. The CPU base has a mirror finish to ensure better surface contact.
The main unit measures 120(W) x 50(D) x 159(H) mm, and weighs 700 g with fan. The 120 mm fan spins at speeds between 1000 ~ 2200 rpm, with a maximum noise output of 28 dBA. The Xigmatek Balder supports all current sockets, including LGA-1366, LGA-1156, LGA-775, and AM3/AM2+/AM2. The package includes a bolt-thru kit for the LGA sockets, and enough rubber rivets to let you attach two fans. It is priced at 32.90 EUR.

Keeping up closely with its recent release of the Balder SD1213 CPU cooler, Xigmatek also introduced the Bifrost VD1065 VGA cooler. The Bifrost is a twin-fan aluminum fins based GPU cooler, that makes use of the company's popular Heat-pipe Direct Touch feature. The fairly-simple construction of this cooler includes a GPU contact block with mount-hole spacings of 43 mm, 53 mm, and 51 mm, to maintain a board list of compatibility. Here, five nickel-plated copper heat-pipes make direct contact with the GPU. These then convey heat to the cooler's aluminum fin array, which is cooled by two 100 mm ball-bearing fans that spin at speeds of around 2,000 rpm, with a noise-level of 20 dBA.
The Xigmatek Bifrost VD1065 is compatible with most current single-GPU graphics cards, including Radeon HD 2000/3000/4000 series, NVIDIA GeForce 8-series, 9-series, GTS 200, and GTX 200 series. It is expected to arrive in stores soon, priced at 36.90 EUR.
