This is a new device, which the ancient got so he can expand the capabilities of his machine. He called it "video board". The scientists suspect, that this device added video surveillance capability. It was most likely used to videotape the chickens. Using it the ancient ones could watch how the chickens grow from their homes or from the control center of the bird farm:

This monitoring obsession of the ancients is very interesting, as far as we can tell, there were two types of people - the ones who mionitor and the ones who are monitored.
