Pros:
  • Great performance
  • Great overclocking potential (1111MHz 5-5-5-15 and with only a few tries)
  • Cool looking radiators which improve cooling
  • Lifetime guarantee
  • Big and pretty box (if you're into these things, or you buy it as a gift)

Cons:
  • There's no point in a high-end memory module if you're not going to overclock it or you don't have a high-end PC.

Well in the end A-Data have done their job brilliantly with Vitesta Extreme Edition DDR2 800MHz X Series. The memory has low latency timings, high performance and with a few simple tests we overclocked it to the impressive 1111Mhz (which means with more time and effort we could achieve 1160-1180 with higher voltage and some tweaks on the timings). Although the tests showed that performance of 1111MHz vs 800MHz isn't much higher, don't forget that we raised the frequency ONLY of the memory, not the CPU or the FSB. So if you have a nice dual or even quad core CPU, which can achieve FSB of 500-550Mhz, you will need memory modules that can run at 1000-1100 and the performance of the system may increase dramatically, therefore a good RAM is essential! Ofcourse overclocking is a game of chance,so it's not really necesary that all A-Data Vitesta Extreme Edition DDR2-800 kits achieve our max frequency. But having in mind that all chips are thurally screened and tested, we believe that most of them will pass 1000Mhz hands down. And in the end when we add to this the incredible price of around 50$ for the kit (that's final price with VAT), making them the best bargain "overclock" 2X1GB DDR2 on the market, we can definitely recommend it and give it a score 9.5/10 and "Excellence" award!

Many thanks to our friends from A-Data, who made this review possible.
