Page 2 - Closer look

Not long ago we tested another kit A-Data Vitesta Extreme Edition - DDR2 800MHz. The memory as just like now dual channel kit, packed in a similar way:

The exquisitely luxurious box makes the memory a perfect birthday gift for any overclocker or gamer :) The odd thing here is that such box is usually used for memory costing hundreds and hundreds of dollars, while here in Bulgaria that kit is sold for under 140$. Rival products from other brands, that are aimed at the same users are more expensive and at the same time are sold in plain small box. Not that the box affects in any way the quality of the contents, but still, paying such a modest sum and getting luxurious packaging sure makes you feel a whole lot better.

And here is the memory itself. In all its shine. Dark grey heat spreaders, that unfortunately prevent us from finding out what exactly hides underneath (glued solid to the chips, removal without danger of damaging the memory is extremely difficult). The second photo shows the timings at which the memory had been factory tested. There are NOT SPD timings, the motherboard sets them at 9-9-9-24. So if you are gamer in need of fast memory , do not forget upon powering up your machine with the new kit to enter BIOS and set it to at least 7-7-7-20 at 1600MHz. But more for the overclock potential we'll tell in the overclock section of the review.
