The famous SuperPI... We used the XtremeSystems version, supporting multi-threading.
You need to upgrade your Flash Player
Conclusion
Its not that Celeron E1200 ain't good... Thing is the cheaper AMD Athlon X2 models are more than adequate for their price. We know what you're thinking – we did not test with AMD processors to prove this – and you're right! Still what we saw outside of the review - over at our foreign colleagues is that for a fact Celeron E1200 is behind Athlon X2 4000+ in productivity. The manageable overclock between the Intel models in question and their AMD counterparts is similar. On the other hand the difference between E1200 and E2140 was always minimal so if you are upgrading with high class model Core 2 processor (at least E400 series)in mind, then the new lower class Intel processor is a reasonable base for that upgrade.
Then again, looking back in time the dual core Celeron is a giant leap for Intel. While its predecessors were suitable only for weak office or home computers, now seeing how more and more programs and games are being optimized for multi-threading, we can say that the new E1000 processors would have quite broad array of application.
Thanks to our colleagues atxBitLabs, for some of the charts.
