Page 4 - Software, testing
Nothing special for the software install. It has two main functions (and not much more): 1. Macro editor; 2. Resolution settings:
The macro editor offers standard functions, same old, same old... The interesting things are the resolution settings. Through the software you can set each of the four sensitivity modes of the mouse to work with values between 400 and 3200 DPI. This is very useful function, since not many people use 400 anymore and not everyone needs the full 3200 DPI. So i that account Stinger gains our admiration, despite the fact that the software has the bare minimum of settings available to you. Another huge trait is the integrated memory, allowing the mouse to remember your setting even after being unplugged from the USB. Thus being all set up and ready to work even when plugged in another computer.
Now to how comfy is Stinger:
We have talked before about that form of a mice, but we'll mention again the basics. This i a right hand mouse, no question about it, suitable for people in love with big mice, the type held with the whole palm, not only the fingers. The form of the mouse is extremely comfortable for users with either large or small hands. Even after prolonged use it doesn't tire your hands, and remains comfy. It's designed in a way that your hand just lays on it in a way you feel that the mouse was made just for you.
Additional weights have been discussed in depth too, with this product their presence is not accidental, they do their job flawlessly, nothing more to be said.
The huge feet on bottom of the Stinger are exactly as expected – stable and easy gliding. Their size should not concern you, indeed they are well designed, well placed and give the mouse good stability.
The side buttons are well placed, on a easily accessible place for your thumb, the macro modes made them a very useful addition too, in cases you need your lots of buttons at your right hand. The scroll is soft and rotates smoothly, he is 4-directional (we never expected that Cyber Snipa wouldn't make it).
The mouse is covered by rubberized material on the sides and with highly cohesive material on the top. After long hours of gaming out hands never lost grip of it, the surfaces remained dry and non-slippery. The material on the top is excellent, prolonged work with the mouse is pleasant.
The resolution of 3200 DPI might seem a tad high to some of you, but serious gamers would immediately appreciate this capability. Top-gaming mice at this point use resolutions up to 4000 DPI. While testing at 3200 we were pleased ant the general feeling in our favorite shooters was much better at that resolution – level of response and accuracy was very high. Would 3200 be enough for you or 4000 is what you need, is up to you to decide, but if you're not pro-gamers in our opinion 3200 is enough (keeping in mind that 4000 range products are with quite different price tag).
And in the end – a short remark about the cable. We liked its colour, but not its thickness. Surely he's tough, but it's also thick and hard. So keep that in mind – in order co be complete comfy you will need a lot of free space around the mouse, for it to be free!
