Page 3 - Testing
Now, I was unable to get precise temperature measurements, but with one pumping air in and one pumping out the temperature in my case dropped considerably. So in order to compensate for the lack of temperature readings I summoned the all to well known fan testing material - the lavatory paper!
The fans we compared to the Gelid ones were these:
- Noctua NF-P12 – 1300 rpm
- Foxconn PV122512L – 1750 rpm
- CoolerMaster A12025-7BB-3AN-D1 – 700 rpm
- CoolerMaster R4-P2B-12AK-GP – 1200 rpm
- Evercool – 1200 rpm
(Comparisons were made based on the Noctua review, available HERE, due to the similarity between the two models, while the Gelid one still being twice cheaper than the Noctua one.
Now on to the tests:
In testing the fans performed very well, supplying stable air flow and high static pressure. Unlike the Noctua, they have stronger and more concentrated air flow and that makes them ideal for a case fans (as they are intended indeed).
I managed to get some paper in front of the fans, thus redecorating my desk with finely spread miniature paper pieces few times in a row too.
Just as in the previous tests the only fan more quiet than Gelid's ones was CoolerMaster A12025-7BB-3AN-D1, but it had far too weak air flow and with the mere 700 RPM was in no way a competition. As expected Delta was the only fan with stronger air flow, but as Stuyo says - it sounds like tractor. As for the Noctua, results were similar, while the Noctua had a small lead, but not enough to justify its price.
