Page 2 - Packaging and close look upon Igloo 5750 Silent
GlacialTech Igloo 5750 Silent comes unexpectedly well packed for the price and claims it has...
The cooler is placed in a big cardboard box that has even a handle... for purely aesthetic purposes to be sure :) Inside the Igloo is wedged in a plastic mold in order to protect it from any shaking (or any other potentially harmful moves for that matter) on its long way from Taiwan to... well, whichever point of the world it's traveling to. In the box besides the cooler you'll find a bag with all the fixing elements for the different AMD sockets. The cooler is usually with attached fixing elements for Intel sockets. And since they are identical to the Intel's box cooler ones, if you ever had mounted one, this GlacialTech will give you no trouble at all.
And here it is the Igloo 5750 Silent itself. The two noiseless fans are powered through a single cable with 3-pin connector. Their power consumption is extremely low (in order to be so quiet), so they don't need much and are finely powered by the motherboard alone. The base of the cooler is covered by some silver thermal paste - rather good one indeed, since it had less than two degrees difference between it and the Arctic Silver 5, that we used later in the tests. There is no additional thermal paste supplied, but then again for that price, that it is to be expected. In the end it must be noted that the base isn't all tat well polished, so tinkering with some extra fine water sand paper, wool cloth and whitening tooth paste might get you 1-2-3 more.
And here are the AMD fixing elements. Surely they should have been on the top of the page, along with the pictures of the box and it's contents, but then no one would have noticed them, thus rendering the effort of the photographer useless - pity, no?
