Most motherboard manufacturers nowadays create bigger and bigger motherboards loosing their sense of compactness. The current review though will focus on a micro-ATX jewel bearing the MSI product logo - namely the K9N2GM. The micro-ATX standard is relatively comfy from modder's point of view for creating quite compact works of art. But enough talk, let's see what action can the small guy dispense.
Our partners from
Solytron
kindly supplied us with a AM2 socket version of MSI K9N2GM. The motherboard being based on the Nvidia MCP78 chipset, supports AM2+ processors, Hybrid SLI and GeForce IGP – 8200. Considering its small footprint it is indeed quite fit for a multi-media home center, even more so should you pair it with high-end processor.
And here4 are its characteristics that according to the manufacturer distinct it from other motherboards:
- Size: 9.6” (L) x 9.6” (W) Micro-ATX
- Memory: 4 DIMMs w/ DDR2 800 up to 8GB
- Expansion slots: 1 PCI-E 16X; 2 PCI-E X1; 2 PCI; 4 USB
- Realtek® ALC888 Flexible 7.1 - channel sound
- GbLAN; IEEE 1394; HDMI; SATAII up to 6; ATA133
- Live Update; Dual Corecell; MSI Dual CoreCenter; DOT; AMD Cool'n'Quiet™
