For the purpose of the review we picked modern components, that adequately match the motherboard. As we already said the review is direct comparison between Intel P45, represented by MSI P45 Platinum and Intel P35, represented by ASUS P5K-E WiFi, that is too popular high class P35 motherboard. Here are the rest of the components.
- CPU: Intel Core2Duo E8500
- RAM: 2x2GB A-DATA DDR800
- Video card: Albatron GeForce 8800GT
- Sound card: Creative Audidgy Value
- Hard drive 1: Western Digital Raptor 10 000rpm 36GB
- Hard drive 2: Seagate Barracuda 9 7200rpm 300GB
- Optical drive: ASUS DVD+/-RW 24x Ligthscribe SATA
- PSU: GlacialPower AL 650A
- Monitor: Belinea o.display 4_24" LCD 1920x1200
Tests were done under Windows Vista x64, since this is the only modern OS that supports all the abilities offered by the chipset and 4GB memory (x86 supports roughly about 3GB).
The tests that we included in the review are as follow:
- 3DMark Vantage
- Cinebench 10
- WPrime
- Everest Ultimate
- SiSoft Sandra Lite XII.SP2c
- HDTach 3
- DivX & XviD compression
- WinRAR
- Crysis
- Enemy Territory Quake Wars
- World in Conflict
They were chosen with a simple purpose - to test the performance of the motherboard in each aspect. Though some of them are not everyday applications, they do accurately test the hardware in different ways and are able to give us an excellent estimate of what it can do with real applications loading it in the same way. All the tests were repeated as many times as necessary for obtaining consistent and accurate results. Well, time to see them.
