Page 4 - Testing

Comfortability

As you can see, MSI Wind is quite compact machine. The photos show it compared to an 15.4” notebook:

Despite its size, Wind prides itself with big enough keyboard, quite suitable for prolonged use too:

Of course some adjusting to it will be unavoidable, but once you are accustomed its just dandy. The overall compact size and the big screen make it perfect for being used as mobile workstation, especially if the work includes lot's of text processing and requires not much of processor load or bigger screen:

Display

After mentioning the display ever so often, now is the time to share our impressions with it. First of all - it ain't small. 10” for this type of computer are enough. Not to mention the cushy 1024х600 resolution, very comfy to work with indeed. The display is matte (very nice touch that is in times that every manufacturer had somehow got the idea that gloss ones are good idea) and has very good LED lighting. We tested it with few movies and were pleased with the quality.

Games

So of text processing and Internet browsing we spoke already, but how well suited for gaming is Wind? Its video processor is well known to us all from the not-so-recent past. Most of the good old games run with it well, just about anything up to Quake 3 Arena is OK. Some DOS games were tested too, just for old times sake, oh, yes and some console emulators too. So here are some frames of them, see if you can remember any of them :)

Heat and noise

While operational MSI Wind is rather quiet – its cooling is well designed and hardly audible. Although Wind uses standard 2,5” hard drive in a small body, vibrations are minimal and interfere not at all. Another thing that impresses is that even under high work load the notebook showed no signs of heating, the keyboard did not change its temperature and the cooling was ever so quiet. It is undoubtedly apparent that MSI engineers had put a lot of thought and effort in designing the cooling of this small marvel.
