Page 3 – Tests
For the rests we used 2 laser and 2 optical mice, in order to get the best feel. Here are the rodents themselves:
- Cyber Snipa Stinger – 4000 dpi
- Microsoft Wireless Mouse 6000 – 1000 dpi
- Microsoft Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0 – 800 dpi
- A4Tech X7 (X-708) – 800 dpi
Performance
The surface of Razer Destructor is well balanced, provides low resistance, and in the same time fine control, unlike many of the faster pads that has almost no resistance. Our first impression upon touch is that the surface is extremely flat and even – there is no noticeable difference even at the labels. In fact upon closer inspection we discovered that the surface has small holes. They are designed in such way, that remain unnoticed when touched, allowing very easy movement of the mouse and at the same time good friction when ending the movement. This way you don't lose accuracy. The surface is not the fastest on the market, but as a preciseness/speed value is the best we've ever seen. Even compared to other products with tiny holes in the surface, Destructor is definitely performing better.
As for the different types of sensors – with the laser mice the accuracy was considerably better than with other pads, that we usually use them with. There was no room for comparison at any given sensor resolution. With the optical sensors, considering the fact that, they are slower, there was not that much of a difference in sensor accuracy, but as we stated the control over the mouse with this pad was at very high level.
Comfortability and stability
These two factors depend mainly by the thickness of the pad – and it is a mere 2,3 mm, which makes it very comfy, not tiring your wrist, that's touching on the surface below. And as we mentioned, the surface is designed in a way that upon touching isn't quite hard, actually it offers a feeling of "softness". We also mentioned the non-standard form of the pad, a form that gives you additional surface in the most left or right positions of your hand movement and also the labels on the pad do not break the surface nor its usefulness.
As for the sturdiness – one of the tables we tested it on was a tad smaller. After 3 weeks of use there was no change of the products appearance, despite the fact that our hands pressured the pad against the edge of the surface and we expected the Destructor to bend. Yes, even though being so thin it apparently is a very tough product, you'll ave to do quite some bending in order to start showing. Also for these 3 weeks the surface kept its initial looks, there was no evidence of wearing and it cleans very easy too. Of course we tested the pad with variety of other items too – including ones with sharp edges – and still there are no scratches or dents.
