Page 2 – Closer look

The box of Revoltek Fightpad Advanced is opened from the front and you can easily see the product under the clear protective screen. Graphics are with design hinting strongly towards the product main function, yet for those not catching on there is the word "gaming" on top surrounded by bullet shape. On the back of the box we can find the product specifications as well as short description of its buttons. Along with the keypad in the box we find the user manual and the driver CD:

Here are the Fightpad Advanced characteristics according to Revoltec:

  • Software for programing of macro functions
  • Ultra precise buttons
  • Highly effective „Steel Grid” design (we haven't got a clue what do they mean with this)
  • 100% compatible with Windows Vista / XP / 2000
  • Dimentions (L/W/H): 225 х 160 х 28 mm
  • Weight: 0,37 kg
  • Keys: 37
  • Conectivity: USB 2.0 (backward compatible with USB 1.1)

The Revoltec gaming keypad is S-shaped. The top surface is made from material resembling Kevlar, though it's really normal plastic with fancy painting. As whole we're not convinced that this is the right color for the product, because the end result is that the product gets "grayish" (as in dull and unattractive grayish that is). On the place that your wrist would be we find a rubberized pad that not only will prevent slipping but also bares the Revoltec logo:

The buttons of Revoltec Fightpad Advanced have interesting design – the central replacements of the WASD + QE are sloped towards the center, helping you find them easily with your fingers even without looking, still the small size of the "S" puzzled us. There is also lots of free space around the central buttons, so even in an intense game you'll not press any other random buttons. The "Space" button, labeled in this instance "Jump" is placed on the usual place reached by your left hand thumb. There is also a button with stylized icon for ammunition, with which you can reload. The rest of the buttons are arranged fairly far from the central block and how well is the pad designed you'll find out later. We were rather surprised by the dislocation of the sound control buttons – they are placed where you keep your pinky while not in use. As whole the buttons leave a somewhat unpleasant feeling – they look way too „plastic”:

The bottom of Revoltec Fightpad Advanced is rather dull, though there is a small „secret” unseen at first sight – two integrated blue LED's that light the surface the pad is placed on. The light isn't too bright or annoying, not bat addition, yet should it bothers you the only way to turn it off is through opening the pad first:
