Page 2 - Package, contents, cables and connectors

First impressions of a product that anyone gets is from its packaging. The Silver Power SP-SS500 500W box is as big as the box of non-modular PSU should be:

Inside it we find exactly what we've expected from budget oriented PSU - one power cable, one manual and one PSU :)

Geting the PSU out for more detailed look we got our first negative impression - the PSU is lighter than expected. Though this model isn't ultra-powerful, other PSU's with the same power from other brands weight at least... 20-30% more.

The appearance of the PSU leaves good impression. Silver Power SP-SS500 is painted black and has mirror finish. Its details look fine - while with cheep PSU's often many details are neglected and we get to enjoy crooked stickers, sharp edges and bad English... Cable connectors are of high quality too - they are easily plugged/unplugged and once connected are quite stable. All cables have black sleeve that helps to improve the air flow. And here we bump on the second minus for the PSU - SATA and MOLEX cables are sleeved partially, only up to the first (out of three) cable connector. And on the other cables - for example the PCI-E, the sleeve doesn't goll all the way, leaving the end a bit uncovered. Not a tragedy, but still...
