Page 3 - Assembly, Testing

There is nothing difficult about the assembly, photos do give a clear idea of it. There is even no need for you to use a screwdriver, though no one is stopping you if you really want to do so. Note though, that the screws have not that big heads, so unscrewing them by hand would be much more difficult:

Voilà! The assembled product:

And now with a notebook on it:

Temperature

Tests were conducted with the following notebook pads:

  • Vizo Ninja
  • Evercool Royal (both normal and reversed fan position)
  • Revoltec RNC-2100
  • Revoltec RNC-3000

The temperature in the graph is the temperature difference between the temperature the of the notebook processor without the use of a pad and with the use of the corresponding pad:

You need to upgrade your Flash Player

Note: Higher is better.

You need to upgrade your Flash Player

Note: Higher is better. And the negative value means that the pad actually managed to get the processor hotter instead of cooler.

As you can see, Vizo Ninja does not perform as good as the coolers that are made of a solid metal slate, but that's quite normal – it works on different principle. It is apparent that even when the fans are not turned on it's still effective. The fans will be more effective when used with high-performance notebooks that generate lot's of heat (the machine we tested with, as you can see clearly does not generate as much and differences are indeed subtle, to the point of being within the margin of error even). The great adjustability of the fans comes quite handy, you can position them under the opening for cooling of the notebook or the hard disk, thus maximizing the effect.

Noise

Vizo Ninja fans are very quiet. As whole that's not bad, but considering the difference between fans being On and Off, maybe a little increase of air flow at the expense of some noise does seem reasonable (since the effectiveness of the fans with machines that are not of the highest class is lesser). As a big disadvantage we consider the lack of on/off switch for the fans, while you still get to turn them off by unplugging the USB cable, the resulting loss of function of the USB hub is annoying to say the least...

Build

The build quality of the product is on the level (and a high one it is). Made from thick aluminum sheets its every detail is quite sturdy and stable. There not much to wish for about it really.

Comfort

I will not even try to hide my preferences. Personally I always liked pads that are raised at the back and low in front. In this case the pad almost perfectly fulfills my needs. Its size is also perfect for a 15.4” widescreen notebook, truly the most common kind nowadays. The rubber feet that doesn't allow slipping of the pad on the surface its placed on are quite effective. And should need to lightly adjust its position on your desk, simply raise the front and roll it on the wheels at the back. And to just say it again - the angle at which the notebook stands is quite comfy – the screen is considerably raised while the front of the notebook is almost at the desk level. Oh! Did I mention the 3 port USB hub?

Design

Not much could be said for Vizo Ninja design. You can see for yourself. With a laptop on it its still quite extraordinary. And without laptop... even better... Now, are into things like this is quite a different matter. As far as I'm concerned the design is brutally awesome.
