This is another ModReactor review of the first model of the new 9-th NVIDIA series - 9600 GT. This time the card in the focus of our attention is made by the well known XFX, its exact model is XFX GeForce 9600GT 512MB DDR3 PV-T94P-YDF4. Now let's see what the company has to offer and at what price.
Let's begin with that - even out first contact with it left us with mixed feelings. XFX GeForce 9600GT is fully referent, beginning with frequencies, noting the NVIDIA designed aluminum cooler and ending with the PCB. We make this introduction in order to explain as to why this review is not going to be like the other typical for ModReactor long an detailed videocard reviews, including lots of game and application testing. In this review we'll be looking only at what is (or rather doesn't) this XFX card differs from the other companies implementation of 9600 GT. Should you desire to see a comparison between a referent 9600 GT and other cards, check out our Point of View 9600 GT review, there is no difference in performance compared to this XFX.
Now to the point...
There will be no detailed technical specification review of the G94 core, the basis of all GeForce 9600 GT bases cards. We'll just remind you that the NVIDIA recommended values (the ones we'll see in XFX 9600 GT too) are 650MHz core, 1625MHz for shaders and 1800MHz for the memory. The recommended price of the card at the time of the review, that our partners from Solytrade (the only official importers of XFX for Bulgaria), gave was around 315 leva (206$ without tax).
But that's enough theory. Time to check what's inside the card's box.
