Page 3 - Overclock and Conclusions

The first referent card based on GeForce 9600 GT, that we here at ModReactor did review, was from Point of View. With it we managed to reach frequencies of about 740MHz for the core and 1025MHz (2050MHz effective) for the memory, thus managing to get 12 001 in 3DMark06 (10 914 at nominal frequencies). With this card we didn't expect more, since there is nothing it differs from the Point of View 9600 GT in question. And indeed with XFX we got very slightly higher frequencies: 750MHz for the core and 1036MHz (2072MHz effective) for the memory. There is no point of putting up 3DMark06 graphics with results in this case, the difference compared with the first card wouldn't be more than 100 points at best. Graphically:

In conclusion, XFX 9600 GT did to some extent disappointed us. But not because its performance (absolutely normal for this model), but because its price/performance ratio. The card is just 10 leva (~5 Euro) cheaper than a model we reviewed about a week back - MSI N9600GT T2D512-OC. The MSI model is not only coming with juicy factory overclock модел не само, but with solid heatpipe cooler too, much more effective than a mere piece of aluminum. Besides the MSI in question has original Colin McRae DiRt and a Lord of the Rings online trial in its bundle. And on top of that the XFX 9600 GT has but a 2 years of warranty instead the 3 for the MSI N9600GT T2D512-OC.

So if we are to pass fair judgement upon XFX 9600 GT, than it cannot be called "good buy" due to the little it offers for its high price (305 leva (~155 Euro)). In fact other such referent cards are sold for about 280 leva (~140 Euro) or even less and despite that XFX had always been "exotic and special" hardware this time it's not exactly like this.

Many thanks to our partners from Solytrade, which made this review possible, by supplying us with this card and much of the hardware that we've tested with.
