Earlier this year NVIDIA released their new G92 core and the 8800 GT card based on it, winning this way the battle in the mid-high range cards sector, waged against AMD and their HD 3870. NVIDIA had no competition against the 8800 GTS 512 that followed, but the Canadians took the middle sector with the successful Radeon HD 3850. That way, a bit late 8800 GS showed up with its 384MB and 768MB variants.
The more observant of you might have noticed the irony. 8800 GS was supposed to be the temporary weapon against Radeon HD 3850, until 9600 GT was released, but 8800 GS came in Bulgaria not long before 9600 GT, which is on the market already. Despite this the card in the center of our review is available, so we decided to to make a review just in case it's on somebody's list of possible upgrades. Center of our review will be XFX PV-T88S-FDD4 or simply put XFX 8800 GS XXX Alpha Dog Edition - a well overclocked version of 8800 GS, supplied to us by the only official XFX dealer for Bulgaria, Solytrade
