Page 4 - Performance

With the cooler in place now we can get to the real testing, and here is some hardware information.

  • CPU: Intel Core2Duo E8500
  • Motherboard: ASUS P5K-E WIFI-AP
  • Noctua NF-P12

We'll use the following coolers in comparison:

For testing of the Cooler Master Hyper Z600 we used the default FSB, and after that we gave it good overclocking.

To test in IDLE mode, we left it running 6-7 minutes after the stress test w/o any load. For the stress test we used the Real Temp 2.70 data (probably the best software to measure temperature for 45nm CPUs), and after 30 minutes of working with OCCT 2.0. this is what we got As you can see the temperature is in CELSIUS above room temperature, and with that we exclude the influence of the environment which makes for better and more accurate tests.

Cooler Master Hyper Z600 is slightly infront of the Noctua NH-U12P, which is more expensive but comes with a vent. Infact the same vent we used on the Z600.

Here we see the Z600 pull in front by just a bit more from the other coolers, and the stock cooler was falling way behind.With it the temperature passed 70C with ease the first few seconds of the test. That's why we removed it from the tests.

At 4000MHz Cooler Master Hyper Z600 was increasing it's lead a bit more.

For 4250MHz a much higher voltage was needed for the CPU to be steady - 1.4V. Hyper Z600 was the only cooler that was able to stabilize the CPU at this voltage. Despite that the temperature was still high - adding the room temp of 23.5C at the time of the test, we get 76C. It wouldn't be wise to run the CPU at such a temp all the time, but was interesting to see in the test.
