Page 3 - Tests

Firstly I must state that unlike videocards, motherboards, processors and such, with peripheral devices the tests and their results are purely subjective. Everyone has his own stile and habits when working with his computer accessories, everyone has personal needs, that's why I'll try to present each and every aspect of my impressions and you can take into account the ones that apply to you!

While testing Everglide DKTBoard i did what's common in these cases - I used the keyboard for about 10-12 days, enough of a period to get accustomed to the layout and the specific product functions. No doubt the lack of special buttons speed up the process. The so-called tests included every day work assignments, playing some of my favorite amongst which are WarCraft 3, StarCraft, TM Nations Forever and the more recent additions such as C&C 3 Tiberium Wars, Unreal Tournament 3, Gears of War, Crysis, Racedriver Grid and others.

Honestly speaking Everglide DKTBoard never became comfortable to me. One of the reasons is that as a programmer I work 8-10 hours a day actively using the keyboard, with very hardened habits, responsible for the use of almost all F1-F12 keys, page down, page up, /, *, backspace, delete, enter... Few of the things I adore most in a keyboard are the big backspace, big enter, and on my personal keyboard - big Delete... Yes, at least the backspace was fine, but the F-keys were too tightly packed, page up and page down were on a particularly nasty place (though it's not too hard to get used to them)... Then again that probably was the goal of Everglide - space saving in first place. Though I still support my opinion that this keyboard is uncomfortable for prolonged text inputting and unless you favor the "laptop" style keyboards, you'll probably feel the same.

As for the gaming - nothing much to said either, DKTBoard performed swell, as much as a plain ordinary keyboard could perform "swell". It would be nice if a gaming keyboard has reinforced and rubberized WASD keys, yet this is not the case.It would be nice to have sets of profiles and macro modes, again - not with this keyboard though. It is a fact that I experienced no problems while using the keyboard, it's a fact too that i felt no new pleasures nor advantages by using it.
