Page 5 - Tests And Conclusions
While testing Logitech WaveWhile I did what's common in these cases - I used the keyboard for about 10-12 days, enough of a period to get accustomed to the layout and the specific product functions. The so-called tests included every day work assignments, playing some of my favorite amongst which are WarCraft 3, StarCraft, TM Nations Forever and the more recent additions such as C&C 3 Tiberium Wars, Unreal Tournament 3, Gears of War, Crysis, Racedriver Grid and others. Actually there was no adaptation period, after the first few minutes I was accustomed to it and were typing wit h great comfort and pleasure! Unlike most modern keyboards, the buttons of Logitech Wave don;t have a low profile and that in in no way a setback - they press perfectly. In reality with the low profile keyboards it is more often to not press fully down a button.
Besides as a programmer and author for this website I often spend 10-12 hours every day, all through the week in front or around the computer. My working habits include frequent use of ctrl, alt, backspace, delete, shift, tab, *, /, winkey, as well as the whole F1-F12 range of keys and it was indeed amusing how easy i got to "find" them. Their (bigger) size and altered shape made them very comfortable and at the same time accurate (it wasn't easy to press other keys even by accident). And the option to disable the Caps Lock and Insert from the driver was the icing on the top! :)
SO here is in short what charmed me in Logitech Wave.
Pros:
- Extraordinary comfort while working, due to the curved design of the keys that fit to your hand
- Stylish design in black and silver
- Multiple special keys
- Very capable software, allowing infinite re-setting of functionality for each special button
- Important usual keys are with altered design in order to function better
- Pad for your wrists
- Two year warranty
- Logitech quality
Cons:
- With the price of ~50$ it's not for just anyone
Maybe lots of people would get discouraged by the relatively high price, but in the end high quality and innovations are worth it. If you spend a lot of time in front of your computer (then again even if you don't) you will not regret purchasing this keyboard. this is investment you don't make every day (the keyboard has a 2 year warranty, but by the look of it it will be up and running for decades), and such an investment would make you not only more productive but will also provide you with comfort.
